I am interested to know the opinion of any Deaf adults as to their education and what they liked or disliked. All comments will be viewed and considered. I currently am working as an educational sign language interpreter and work with high school students of varying educational background. I want to better understand them and be able to guide them and encourage them to higher education.

I wish I could. I understand that the sign language used there may not be ASL. I know how frustrating it can be, please don't give up and continue to advocate for your son. Just remember, the squeeky wheel gets the oil! Take care, Mimi

Thanks for your feedback, I recently learned that only 10% of teachers for the deaf actually are fluent in ASL themselves! That is about the equivalent as a spanish speaking in a bilingual classroom, but the teacher doesn't speak Spanish! What is with that? Mimi

My son is deaf and as such did not attend to a good school for the deaf, as there was none in Seychelles where we come from. I came to Australia to try and get him into school, but unfortunately they say he is too old and I would like him to learn to read and write a little bit at lease. Can you help we live in Cairns, Aust. Thanks Bernadette
